Portland:
The life of a female supervisor at a popular supermarket in Port Antonio, Portland, was snuffed out by her male companion in what is believed to be a murder and attempted suicide.
Dead is 22-year-old Jessica King of a Mill Bank address in the Rio Grande Valley of Portland, while her boyfriend, a policeman, is nursing gunshot wounds at hospital.
The policeman has been identified as Detective Constable Lincoln McKoy.
Up to last night, a forensics team was still collecting evidence from the crime scene near the entry gate leading to the state-of-the-art Errol Flynn Marina.
The incident took place shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, and, according to an eyewitness, the woman was shot four times by the cop, who then turned the gun on himself, firing three more shots.
Relationship trouble
The two were reportedly involved in a relationship but, according to a relative of King, the couple had been going through a troubled phase for some time and King had reportedly left the house and was staying elsewhere.
According to the relative, King received a phone call on Wednesday from her boyfriend, who requested to see her.
It was during a visit to the marina, probably to meet with her boyfriend, that King was shot to death in daylight, while four persons seated in a nearby gazebo looked on in shock.
