Route change for tomorrow's CB UWI 5K

Published:Saturday | November 16, 2013 | 12:00 AM

A change of route has been made for the second staging of the CB Group UWI 5K Run/Walk which gets under way tomorrow on the campus of the University of the West Indies.

The event will now begin at the Mona Bowl and runners will lead out to the August Town gate. The course then follows the Sir John Golding Road, which is the only part of the race that is outside of the actual university grounds this year. After going past the Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre, competitors will then re-enter the University campus at the Irvine Hall gate where they will follow Shed Lane to the famous Ring Road.

The entrants this year will be privy to a tour of the university as they go around the Ring Road with the many infrastructural enhancements on show. Runners and walkers will be able to get a look at the Towers Hall of residence, the Medical Sciences complex, as well the Law building, all recently constructed, as they make their way around the Ring Road.

The CB Group UWI 5K Run/Walk promises to be an event that generates maximum participation as UWI alumni not only use the event as a means of staying physically fit, but also as a means of reconnecting with past classmates and re-establishing bonds made while undertaking their studies.
