Crazy Chris now the Party Minister
Carl Gilchrist, Gleaner Writer
There are several entertainment personalities with the moniker Crazy Chris, but what differentiates Christopher Foster from the others is his versatility. His image can be corporate, in the streets, or international. Now, to further differentiate himself, he has taken on a new alias - the Party Minister.
"I am very, very popular with the name Crazy Chris as it relates to the international audience, especially in the hospitality industry," Foster told Entertainment Avenue.
"I have a personality which is a lot different from the others. What I notice is that the others are DJs, I am an entertainer, which means I come with a package that you're not going to get from a regular person."
MULTIFACETED
Foster is a singer, dancer, DJ, host and comedian.
"And all of this I put into one package, and that's what I deliver," he explained.
"I'm changing now to the Party Minister, which will see me bringing out all my different personalities in my performances."
The Party Minister slogan was prompted because he has started playing music again after stopping because of what he described as confusion surrounding the name Crazy Chris.
Foster has been using the name for about 15 years. He might not have been the first to use it but his reputation, especially in the hospitality industry where he is currently assistant entertainment manager at Sunset Jamaica Grande, has spread far and wide.
Locally, he has hosted several corporate events over the years. Last year, he did a television commercial for LIME, promoting their 4G broadband service. He has also done a series for College Lifestyle TV, the Pull Up DJ competition, in addition to a reality show for MBTV called A Day in the Life of Crazy Chris.
Overseas for four years, Foster was host on-board the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage, an African-American cruise.
"I brought out people onstage like Patti LaBelle, LL Cool J, Bell Biv Devoe, Bobby Brown, comedians Rickey Smiley, Bruce Bruce, J Anthony Brown, working with people like Tom Joyner himself.
"I've done a lot on overseas gigs, very often I'm in Las Vegas, Michigan, LA, and all over the west coast, Chicago - we used to have a Jamaican party in Chicago every August that I used to host."
In April, the Party Minister hosted the spring break tour in Indiana and the Midwest and Memorial weekend in Las Vegas in May.
Crazy Chris, now the Party Minister has been around.
Now he returns to playing music, by popular request of clients who he has served over the years.
"I'm going back into playing music as the Party Minister and hosting. I pretty much want to give Jamaica a complete package with comedy, music, being the host, that's where I'm going now so, it's time Jamaica realises, that one person can do all of that."
He has a road manager in Derron Troupe, who is full of confidence in the Party Minister's ability to create a huge buzz on the local entertainment scene.
"He's more than ready for the road," Troupe told Entertainment Avenue.
"I think he's ahead of his time as it relates to hosting, emceeing, being comedic, being a DJ. The sky's the limit for this entertainer."
