St Ann man charged with murder over fatal Lluidas Vale, St Catherine gun attack

A 33-year-old labourer from St Ann has been charged with murder and several firearm-related offences in connection with a gun attack on a couple travelling along a roadway in Lluidas Vale, St Catherine earlier this month that left a man dead and his female companion injured.
Charged is Jamie Stephenson, otherwise called ‘Tutu,’ of Mansfield Heights in Ocho Rios.
Stephenson faces charges of murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony following the incident on Friday, May 15.
Dead is 62-year-old Clement Mills of Pusey district in Point Hill, St Catherine.
The Spanish Town police report that about 11:00 a.m., Mills and a female companion were travelling in a motor vehicle along a roadway in Lluidas Vale when they were allegedly attacked by Stephenson.
They say Stephenson reportedly brandished a firearm and opened fire on the vehicle, hitting both occupants.
They were taken to hospital, where Mills was pronounced dead and the woman was treated.
The police said that later that day, cop conducting operations in the area reportedly spotted Stephenson at the location.
Upon noticing the police, he allegedly fled and threw an object into nearby shrubs.
He was pursued, apprehended and taken back to the area where officers conducted a search.
During the operation, a Smith & Wesson pistol was reportedly recovered.
Stephenson was positively identified during an identification parade on Monday, May 25.
He was later interviewed in the presence of his attorney and subsequently charged.
