INDECOM probing fatal police shooting in Grants Pen, St Andrew

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the fatal shooting of a man by the police in Grants Pen, St Andrew, on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old labourer Useph Blackwood, a resident of the community.
Reports are that about 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, a police team armed with a search warrant went to the community in search of a mam.
According to the police, the team entered the premises after receiving intelligence that the suspect was in possession of an illegal firearm.
The police say the cops identified themselves, breached an iron grille and a wooden door, and entered the house.
Upon entry, the man was allegedly seen with a firearm, which he pointed at the police team.
The police reportedly took evasive action and opened fire.
When the shooting subsided, Blackwood was found suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
He was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
