Health Ministry plan abortion campaign
The Health and Environment ministry is planning to fund a public education campaign on the abortion debate.
Health and Environment Minister, Rudyard Spencer said while his government is neither for nor against the legalisation of abortion, it will be facilitating islandwide consultations on the matter.
He said following the consultations, a debate would begin in parliament on whether abortion should be made legal.
He would also be suggesting a conscience vote on the issue when it is placed before parliament.
Mr. Spencer said since 1975 successive governments have failed to act on proposals to amend the abortion laws.
