Nelson signs fingerprint system upgrade contract
The National Security Minister Dwight Nelson this morning signed a contract valued at US$995,000 for the upgrading of the Automated Palm and Fingerprint Identification System.
The contract was signed between the Ministry of National Security and SAGEM Défense Sécurité, which will provide additional services and equipment to update the system.
Senator Nelson says there were a number of benefits to be accrued from the improvement of the system.
According to him, it will greatly improve the capabilities of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to use fingerprint identification technology in solving crimes in Jamaica.
He further said the system would build on the successes in service delivery to the Jamaican people in areas such as providing police records.
