Tropical Wave causes flooding in Spanish Town

A tropical wave dumped heavy showers on sections of the island today, causing flooding in some towns.

Reports are that Burke Road in Spanish Town was earlier this afternoon transformed into waterway following a heavy downpour.

Romaine Robinson, a Meteorologist at the National Meteorological Centre, told The Gleaner Power 106 News that the tropical wave caused showers and thunderstorms across much of the centre of the island and western parishes.

He says the showers should linger into the night, especially over the western parts of the island.

However, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) says it has not received any reports of serious flooding.
