OUR Director General re-elected to chair OCUR

The Director General of the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) Ahmad Zia Mian has been re-elected chairman of the Organisation of Caribbean Utility Regulators (OCUR).



The re-election took place at the organisation’s just concluded 8th General Assembly in Ocho Rios, St Ann under the theme: “Regulation, Convergence and the Competitive Environment”.



Other council appointments include that of the chief executive officer of the Fair Trading Commission in Barbados, Peggy Griffith who has been elected vice chair.



The Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission in Guyana, Justice Prem Persaud has been elected Secretary/Treasurer while retaining the post of Acting Secretary General.



The Organisation of Caribbean Utility Regulators was established by agreement in Jamaica in 2002 and is incorporated in Guyana.



Its membership comprises regulatory bodies with responsibilities for telecommunications, electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater and transportation sectors across the Caribbean and the US Virgin Islands.
