Former deputy prime minister of Jamaica is dead
Former Deputy Prime Minister of Jamaica David Coore has died.
He was 86.
Coore, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, died early this morning at his home in the Dominican Republic where he has been living since March of this year.
One of his sons, Dr Michael Coore told The Gleaner/Power 106 News that his father’s remains will be flown home for the funeral.
David Coore entered public life in 1959 when he became a Member of the Legislative Council.
He was one of the framers of the Jamaican Constitution and served in various capacities throughout his political life.
He is survived by his wife Maria and three children- Stephen ‘Cat’ Coore of Third World, Dr Michael Coore and Ivan Coore.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister of Jamaica Edward Seaga said he’s shocked at the news of Coore’s death.
He has described Coore as a very equitable type of a person.
