Accused in murder attempt faces more questioning
Wayne Whyte, the 44-year-old radio announcer implicated in the shooting of his colleague broadcaster, Jody-Ann Gray, is to face a second round of questioning by police in the presence of his lawyers tomorrow.
Whyte, who is being represented by well-known attorney, Christopher Townsend and Tamika Harris, was taken into custody minutes after Gray was attacked at her home in Portmore, St Catherine, on Wednesday night.
He was held along with two other men as they attempted to escape in a car the police say was also registered to a woman who shares his last name.
Gray is seven months pregnant and it is believed Whyte is the child’s father.
Townsend has expressed concern about the treatment of his client in the media.
He says people have been drawing conclusions about the case with the assistance of the press.
Townsend says he hopes that the police will conduct a fair and thorough investigation into the allegations against his client.
Meanwhile, one of the other two suspects held with Whyte has also been questioned.
On the weekend, a statement was also collected from Gray.
Gray has been recuperating in hospital since Wednesday after undergoing surgery to remove a bullet that was lodged below her chin.
