Four constables charged in connection with prisoner release from Freeport lock-up

Four police constables were this morning charged by personnel from the Anti-Corruption Branch for their alleged involvement in the release of a prisoner from the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay, St James.



The police high command says the prisoner, Greg Tayor, was released on January 30, 2013.



Constable Kirton Green is charged with two counts of corruptly soliciting money in the performance of his public functions, after soliciting $500,000 and $150,000.



Constable Raymond Johnson was charged with corruptly accepting money.



He is alleged to have received $220,000.



The police high command says Johnson was also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice by aiding and abetting the unlawful release of Taylor.



Constable Alicia Hutchinson- Brooks faces similar charges as Johnson.



Meanwhile constable Faye Falconer has been charged with harbouring a prisoner, contrary to common law.
