TRN application process revised

Published:Monday | June 3, 2013 | 11:25 AM

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has revised its application process to obtain a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN).

The TAJ says where a certified photograph is submitted along with an application, it must be accompanied by a Declaration for Certifying Official form.

It says the form serves to ensure that the persons certifying the photograph are in a position to do so and so they have to indicate their credential.

Certifying officials include a Justice of the Peace (JP), Minister of Religion, School Principal, Senior Civil Servant, Senior Police Officer or Medical Doctor.

The TAJ says in instances where photos are signed by a JP, the individual must affix their assigned JP number.

It says revised TRN application process has been introduced to protect the integrity of the database, in addition to providing clearer guidelines for all types of applicants.
