The Ministry of Health in Portland yesterday received five dialysis machines from a team aboard an American navy vessel to assist patients with kidney failure and other related illnesses.
Chief Medical Officer in charge of the parish, Dr Jeremy Knight, says the dialysis machines will be transferred to the general equipment base of the Ministry to treat persons whose kidneys are not functioning.
The machines are valued at $40,000.
The team is expected to present medical equipment worth over $42,000 to the Port Antonio Hospital tomorrow.
They will also be donating textbooks and other school supplies to the Titchfield High School.
The HSV2 American naval vessel will depart on Sunday for another Caribbean island.
