West Indies women defeated
West Indies suffered an eight-wicket defeat to India last night in their International Cricket Council Women’s World Cup Super Six match at Bankstown Oval in Australia.
The Caribbean side batting first after winning the toss was bowled out for just 84 off 44 point 4 overs.
Jamaican Stafanie Taylor top scored for West Indies with 29, while Pamela Lavine chipped in with 20.
Priyanka Roy was the most successful bowler for India with four for 14.
Needing 85 runs for victory, India reached their target in the 18th over with Sulakshana Naik undefeated on 39 and Mithali Raj 34 not out.
Debbie-Ann Lewis took most wickets for West Indies with two for 19.
West Indies ended the tournament with one victory from six games. They lost all three matches in the Super Six Stage.
The win was all in vain as India needed New Zealand and Australia to lose if they were to have a chance of reaching the final against England.
As a result, England will face New Zealand in the final after the Kiwis beat Pakistan by 223 runs to secure their place.
