Harbour Sharks record first win
The shipping industry's football team, 'Harbour Sharks', recorded its first win in the Business House Division Two League. The team, which comprises members of KCT Services Limited and the Shipping Association of Jamaica, recorded a 4-1 win over Pepsi at Collie Smith Drive last Tuesday.
The team's coach, Horace Forbes said, "We were on a two-match losing streak, so I'm happy that we broke the drought. I feel good for the players because it will build their confidence towards the next game." In previous matches, Harbour Sharks lost to Red Stripe and National Housing Trust, 1-0 and 2-0, respectively.
Kriston Bennett led the scoring with two goals, in the 63rd and 82nd minutes. Ian McFarlane (in the 22nd minute) and Shawn Gaynor (in the 28th minute) scored the other goals.
Newton Brown, the team's manager, said, "I am proud of the team's comeback, based on the fact that we had a two-match loss at the beginning of the campaign."
Brown said team members rallied around each other and corrected the deficiencies.
"We want to thank the fans for their support and encouragement, which has helped the team tremendously. We are looking forward to them being the 12th man, especially at our home games," he added.
The team was scheduled to play The Gleaner Company in the first round of the knockout competition yesterday.
Competition in the Division Two League continues on June 21, when they face Continental Baking at Collie Smith Drive.
The shipping industry team are three-time champions, having won in 1994, 1996 and 2006.
