JLP puts forward four first-timers in Portland Eastern
The governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has put forward four first-timers for the five local government seats in Portland Eastern.
All five candidates were nominated this morning.
On the People's National Party (PNP) side, it too has put forward first-time candidates.
On the ballots for the JLP are Shanique Green for the Fellowship Division; Athlete Cleary for Faity Hill; Rosemarie Lindo for Prospect, and Emile Rodney for the Port Antonio Division.
The fifth JLP candidate is Paul Thompson who is seeking a second term for the Manchioneal Division.
Thompson, who is also the Mayor of Port Antonio, is expected to be challenged by first-time PNP candidate Shawn Cooke.
Green is to face off against the PNP's Colin Bell; Rodney is to go up against veteran PNP councillor Dexter Rowland; Lindo is challenging former mayor Wayne McKenzie of the PNP, and Cleary facing off with Natalie Wright, a first-timer for the PNP.
The candidates for the PNP are scheduled to be nominated later today.
