Immaculate’s Watt smashes Class Four high jump record three times

Immaculate Conception High’s Sanique Watt delivered a historic performance Friday as she broke the Girls Class Four high jump three times on her way to gold with a final clearance of 1.73 metres at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.

Watt secured the title when she first surpassed the previous record of 1.67m, set by Hydel High's Shiann Salmon, by clearing 1.69m.

She then bettered her own mark with a leap of 1.71m before sealing victory with a final record-breaking jump of 1.73m.

Holmwood Technical’s Afharia Anderson took silver with a clearance of 1.64m, while Desta Robinson of Hydel High secured bronze with 1.61m.
