19-y-o ‘Hagman’ charged over fatal shooting at vigil in Gregory Park in Portmore

Nineteen-year-old Adriano Anderson, otherwise called ‘Hagman,’ was on Monday charged with the shooting death of a man at a vigil in Gregory Park, Portmore, St Catherine.

Killed was 31-year-old Uriah Palmer, otherwise called ‘Children,’ a labourer of Caymanas Gardens in Gregory Park.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday, August 14.

According to police reports, around 2:00 a.m., Palmer was attending a vigil in the area when he and Anderson, a mechanic of Carliss Drive in Gregory Park, had a brief conversation.

During the conversation, Anderson allegedly brandished a handgun, which he used to shoot Palmer before escaping on foot.

Palmer was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anderson turned himself in to the police the following day.

He was officially charged on Monday, August 18, after being interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

A court date is being finalised.
