Rita Marley, Burchell Whiteman and others to be awarded honorary degrees by UWI

Rita Marley, musician and widow of late Reggae icon Bob Marley, and Ambassador Burchell Whiteman headline a list of outstanding Jamaicans who will be conferred with honorary degrees by the University of the West Indies (UWI).

The UWI today released a list of 21 individuals who will be awarded at the 2015 graduations ceremonies in October.

The seven who will be awarded at the UWI, Mona campus in Jamaica are.

Dr the Honourable Lloyd Barnett – LLD (Doctor of Laws)  
Ambassador Burchell Whiteman – LLD  
Denis O’Brien -LLD
The Honourable Hugh Hart – LLD

Alfarita 'Rita' Marley – Dlitt (Doctor of Letters)
Professor Emeritus Mervyn Morris - DLitt
 
Professor Emeritus Sir Geoff Palmer - DSc (Doctor of Science)
