Concerned about Michelle Charles’ rants
THE EDITOR, Madam:
As a long-time resident of the St Thomas Eastern constituency, I must say I am concerned about the conduct of our member of parliament, Dr Michelle Charles, in her recent social media rants.
I understand that some issues become personal when they hit close to home, but she needs to also remember her position as a representative of the people, and therefore display the decency and decorum that our little boys and girls can seek to emulate.
The dispute she has been having with the people of Pera, and in recent days, seemingly the leader of the Opposition, can be handled in a better manner.
First, she can present proof that her father is in fact the owner of the land in question, and show us, the people, how he acquired the land in the first place. Of course, that will put an end to the discussion once and for all.
Her rants on social media are unbecoming of a member of parliament, especially as we seek to improve our democracy. I am calling on Prime Minister Andrew Holness to pull her back in line, and have her choose a more suitable method of resolving the conflict.
The current medium she has chosen is completely unacceptable.
