Uber is here to stay
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Now that Uber is in Jamaica, and is perceived to be cheaper, more organised and safer than most forms of public transportation, the Transport Authority has stated this may not eliminate the need for the company to engage licensed public transportation operators to provide its services. It seems that the Transport Authority is clueless and backward in their thinking, and are now at a loss, being confronted with a modern first-world e-transport concept they cannot hold down.
The Transport Authority should rather be looking at addressing the problems of bad transportation system. Uber is here to stay, and having downloaded the app, I am ready to use the services. The Transport Authority needs to move away from transport primitivism.
