The Cornwall Bar Asso-ciation has joined those mourning the death of its distinguished president, George Thomas, OD.

In a tribute issued yesterday, the association noted that Thomas assumed the presidency this year, articulating plans for further advancing the delivery of justice in the county of Cornwall.

"As a member of our association, he brought his tremendous intellect and experience in both law and community development to our deliberations on how to ensure the best possible justice system for every citizen of Jamaica; and especially for Cornwall County," said the Bar Association.

"George supported our association's lobby for and celebrated with us the recent establishment of a civil registry of the Supreme Court in Montego Bay. He, like us, believed that this was an important first step towards the establishment of a branch of the Supreme Court in Montego Bay, St James, to service the county of Cornwall, one of the main objectives of the Cornwall Bar Association.

"We will miss George Thomas' measured, well-reasoned opinions, camaraderie and friendship."
