MOCA raids St Catherine Municipal Corporation as part of multimillion-dollar fraud probe
The St Catherine Municipal Corporation (SCMC) is at the centre of a major search operation being conducted by several law enforcement agencies in relation to a multimillion-dollar fraud investigation, sources have revealed.
The SCMC is now closed to the public as investigators conduct searches, one source revealed.
The homes of several employees and persons associated with them were also searched during the operations, sources further revealed.
The operations, which began Wednesday night and are ongoing, are being conducted at 17 locations in Kingston, St Catherine and Westmoreland, the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.
The police, army and the Financial Investigations Division are also involved in the search operations.
“The operations are aimed at executing search warrants at the various locations in connection with an investigation into allegations of serious organised crime,” said Major Basil Jarrett, director of communications at MOCA.
