Messi’s Inter Miami earn date with Jamaica’s Cavalier
Argentine legend Lionel Messi looks set to grace Jamaican soil after his Inter Miami earned the right to face Cavalier in the round-of-16 of the Concacaf Champions Cup after a 3-1 second-leg victory over Sporting Kansas City at the Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale earlier tonight.
Messi opened the scoring for Inter in the 19h minute before Tadeo Alende doubled the lead in the first minute of time added to the first half.
Another legend, Luis Suárez then made the game safe two minutes later before a conselation goal came from Memo Rodríguez, the 63rd-minute strike the only one in the second half.
Inter had gone into the game with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg played at Children’s Mercy Park on February 19.
Cavalier made it to the round of 16 as a seeded team by virtue of winning the Concacaf Caribbean Cup.
The teams are set to play the first lef of their encounter away on March 6, before the return leg at the National Stadium on March 13.
