Yassuh, Jamaica Fire Brigade partner to bolster emergency response
The Jamaica Fire Brigade has collaborated with Yassuh Holding Inc, a technology company, to boost its emergency response systems by accessing technology that empowers its emergency services to act faster, more efficiently, and with greater precision in saving lives and protecting property.
Both organisations signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 4, which marks the beginning of a proof-of-concept technology project designed to meet the operational needs of the Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB).
The primary objective of the project is to enhance the organisation’s capabilities in key areas, including emergency response, through web-based and mobile geo-location solutions. By leveraging innovative technologies, this initiative aims to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of the emergency response services provided by the JFB.
Improved situational awareness, optimised resource deployment, and strengthened communication between first responders are among the benefits expected to redound to the JFB.
Andrew Walker, founder of Yassuh and a former Senior Google Engineer, and co-founder Harry Campbell, a digital transformation expert, underscored the company’s mission and vision and commitment to technological progress.
“At Yassuh, we are dedicated to applying technology in meaningful ways to solve real-world challenges. This partnership with the Jamaica Fire Brigade represents a critical step in enhancing public safety and ensuring that emergency services are more efficient and responsive. By harnessing the power of location intelligence and data-driven solutions, we are unlocking new possibilities for emergency response and national resilience,” Walker said.
Stewart Beckford, Commissioner of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, highlighted the importance of this partnership, explaining that it represents a shared commitment to exploring advanced technological solutions that have the potential to revolutionise emergency management in Jamaica.
He emphasised that these efforts would ensure better outcomes for the communities served through the adoption and integration of modern technologies as the JFB continues to enhance its ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergencies.
“Ultimately, this collaboration underscores the JFB’s unwavering dedication to providing high-quality emergency response services to the people of Jamaica, reinforcing public trust and ensuring the safety and well-being of the citizenry,” he said.
As part of its broader vision, Yassuh is actively working to streamline emergency response infrastructure by integrating smart technology that enables more precise location tracking, faster dispatching, and improved coordination among first responders. These innovations extend beyond emergency services and can be leveraged to modernise Jamaica’s postal services, logistics sector, tourism industry, and broader national infrastructure.
The signing of this MOU marks a defining moment in Jamaica’s journey toward modernising national infrastructure through digital innovation.
“By forging this strategic partnership with the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Yassuh is playing a pivotal role in shaping a future where emergency response is smarter, faster, and more effective ensuring a safer, more resilient nation for all Jamaicans,” Walker said.
