JLP Rally | Sinclair says JLP has earned a third term
The Jamaica Labour Party's Charles Sinclair says the JLP has earned the right to a third term with Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
Sinclair, who is also a former mayor of Montego Bay, said the administration’s record of achievements across various sectors has positioned it strongly for re-election.
“We have done quite a bit for the Jamaican people, right across the various spectrums. The portfolio ministries have seen significant improvement and transformation,” he said.
He pointed to major investments in infrastructure and healthcare in St James, including refurbished and newly built health centres.
“We have improved the police stations in Anchovy, a new police station in Mount Salem. In fact, from the perspective of the police and security in St James, we have seen a massive decrease in murder, and that has made the people of St James feel very much safe,” Sinclair stated.
He also credited the growth in the tourism sector with new hotels opening in the parish, while highlighting social investments such as Harmony Beach Park.
“It allows for a safe space where people from Western Jamaica can participate in one environment,” he said.
The senator stressed that the JLP has managed these achievements without burdening Jamaicans with additional taxes.
“Most importantly, nine years of no new taxes. They have done it without putting tax on the backs of Jamaica,” Sinclair declared.
Sinclair was speaking to The Gleaner in Sam Sharpe Square, where he said he is expecting “an outpouring of Jamaica Labour Party supporters” for the party's mass rally being held just 10 days before Jamaicans head to the polls.
“The environment is going to be full of Jamaica Labour Party supporters. We’re all here in full support of the government, the administration of Andrew Michael Holness and for the return of the Jamaica Labour Party and government on the third term September 3,” he told The Gleaner.
The JLP’s mass meeting is expected to be one of its largest campaign events in western Jamaica before the September 3 general election.
