#JaVotes2025 | Bunting dismisses refuge claims
People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for Manchester Southern, Peter Bunting, says he is unfazed by critics who claim he is seeking refuge in the constituency after being rejected in Manchester Central during the 2020 general election.
Instead, he expressed confidence in securing victory, pointing to what he describes as a noticeable increase in PNP supporters turning out to vote today.
“I grew up on a farm, and riding horses, my father would say, sometimes you go drop off, but you climb right back up on the saddle. And other people might say the stone that the builder refused, become the chief of the corner in another constituency,” he said.
The former national security minister was defeated by newcomer, Rhoda Moy Crawford, in the last general election by over 1500 votes.
He is now up against businessman Ian Ives in the neighbouring constituency.
“The ground is very encouraging,” he told The Gleaner after greeting party supporters at the Porus Infant School earlier today.
