Kingston Mayor Andrew Swaby has announced that each division of the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) has been allocated $2.5 million towards an employment-generation programme for December.
Swaby said he has directed the City Engineer's Department to ensure every project is executed with strict accountability.
“Note that $1.5 million comes from the KSAMC, and an additional $1 million has been provided by the Ministry of Local Government. I've given clear instructions to the City Engineer's Department to ensure that every project is carried out with full transparency, strict accountability, and at the highest value for money.”
He said it is essential that resources entrusted to the KSAMC by taxpayers are used efficiently.
That is the only way residents of Kingston and St Andrew will be able to see real improvements, he stressed, urging councillors to monitor works in their respective divisions.
