Police have charged a 25-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of 27-year-old Rohan 'Alvin' Smith at his home in Kingston in March.

The accused is Nicoye Waldron, otherwise called 'Bundog,' of Walker Crescent, Kingston 11.

Waldron has been charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and making use of a firearm to commit a felony.

The incident happened on Raphael Avenue, Kingston 13, on March 2.

According to the Trench Town police, Smith was awakened at about 4:10 a.m. by a knock at his door. When he went to investigate, he was allegedly attacked by Waldron and other men, who opened fire, hitting him.

The attackers then fled the area.

Police were summoned and Smith was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say Waldron was later taken into custody during follow-up operations.

They say Waldron was charged after a statement implicating him in the incident was recorded.
