Another psychiatric evaluation is to be conducted on a 52-year-old Portmore, St Catherine man who set his home on fire.

Albert Buchanan is charged with arson.

Buchanan appeared before the St Catherine Parish Court today, where the court was furnished with a medical certificate which indicated that he has a mental condition.

A further psychiatric evaluation was ordered to determine if he is fit to enter a plea.

Buchanan was further remanded.

Allegations are that on the afternoon of September 23, 2025 Buchanan was alone at his home in Greater Portmore when he used a lighter to set the five-bedroom dwelling.

The fire gutted the house.

The matter was reported to the Portmore police and an investigation was launched, which resulted in Buchanan's arrest.

He was subsequently charged.
