The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that on Sunday, February 8, a section of the Long Hill to Anchovy main road in St James will be temporarily closed to facilitate necessary maintenance works.

The NWA says the closure will be in effect between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., affecting the section of roadway between Reading and the roadway in the vicinity of the intersection of Anchovy and Comfort Hall roads.

Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s Western Region, Janel Ricketts, says the team is intensifying efforts to complete drain-cleaning works and remove fallen trees and debris along the corridor.

Ricketts says that due to the nature of the works, the roadway cannot be made accessible to all vehicles during the activities.

She says that allowance will be made for the operators of articulated units, who may have difficulties navigating the alternative route.

These motorists are, however, being advised that they will experience some delays.

During the period of closure, motorists travelling from the direction of Montego Bay towards the town of Anchovy may travel via the Bogue Hill and Wales Pond roads.

Motorists travelling from Anchovy towards Montego Bay will do the reverse and travel via Wales Pond and Bogue Hill before making their way onto the AGS Coombs Highway (Bogue Road).

Motorists are being urged to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of police personnel and flag persons who will be on location to assist with traffic management.
