Fire leaves several homeless in Craig Town

Several houses and a bar were destroyed in a fire in Craig Town, St Andrew on Sunday afternoon.
The blaze occurred at a yard located at the intersection of Union and Jamaica streets in the community.
Reports are that the fire started about 3:15 p.m., with residents noticing thick smoke coming from one of the buildings before flames quickly spread to nearby structures.
Three units from the Jamaica Fire Brigade responded to the scene and worked to contain the inferno.
Firefighters remain on location as smoke continued to rise from the charred buildings.
The fire has left several people homeless.
Among those rescued was a blind man who was pulled from a burning structure.
Member of Parliament for St Andrew South, Mark Golding, who is also Opposition Leader, was also on location observing the situation and interacting with affected residents.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
