A 46-year-old security officer has been charged after allegedly shooting and injuring a relative during a domestic dispute at his home on Lyndhurst Road in St Andrew earlier this month, the police say.

The man, Evan Bloomfield, is charged with wounding with intent, breach of the terms and conditions of a firearm licence certificate, and discharging a firearm in a public place.

According to the police, the incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. on March 8.

Reports from the Denham Town police are that a dispute developed between Bloomfield and two relatives at his residence.

Investigators said the argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bloomfield allegedly drew his licensed .38 service revolver and discharged a round, hitting one of the relatives in the lower left hand.

Police further reported that the second relative attempted to restrain Bloomfield, and a struggle ensued, during which another round was discharged.

Bloomfield was taken into custody on Friday, following investigations into the incident.

He was subsequently charged after participating in a question-and-answer interview with investigators.
