They are to go to court on April 21.

The police are reporting that four drivers employed by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) have been arrested and charged for allegedly collecting bus fares and failing to hand over the money to the company.

The drivers were apprehended in separate operations by detectives assigned to the National Strategic Anti-Gang Division (NSAD), which falls under the Specialized Investigation Branch.

The police say the operations were part of a widening crackdown on organised criminal activity.

The drivers have been charged with embezzlement and failing to issue tickets to passengers.

The accused are Keith Reid, otherwise called ‘Miguel’, 47, of Llandewey, St Thomas; Coleen Reynolds, 50, of Cumberland, Portmore, St Catherine; Lashon Young, 43, of Waterford, Portmore, St Catherine; and Jahvon Hassock, 27, of Eltham Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The police report that between February and March 2026, the accused, while performing their duties as bus drivers, collected fares from passengers on behalf of the company.

However, they failed to issue electronic receipts to account for the transactions, according to the police.

Investigations further revealed that upon completion of their shifts, the drivers allegedly failed to hand over the collected funds to the JUTC.

A report was made to the police, which led to their arrest and subsequent charges.

They are scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, April 21.

The police say investigations are ongoing to identify others who may be involved.
