Champs 2026 | Shanoya Douglas cruises into 100m semis as Reid tops qualifiers

Although she did not post the fastest time, Holland High’s Shanoya Douglas delivered one of the most impressive runs Tuesday, cruising to 11.85 seconds to advance to the Girls’ Class One 100m semifinals at the National Stadium.
Douglas, one of the favourties for the gold medal, eased off with about metres remaining to take heat one in dominant fashion at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
Penwood’s Shakeya Reid was the fastest qualifier with 11.67 from heat four.
Edwin Allen’s Alexxe Henry, the only schoolgirl to have defeated Douglas this season, took heat two in a comfortable 11.94-clocking.
Class Two is shaping up to be a battle between St Jago’s Adora Campbell and Wolmer’s Girls Natrece East, both advancing in 11.74 and 11.83.
Mt Alvernia’s Giana Murray, 11.69; St Jago’s Shannia Campbell, 11.75, and Excelsior’s Kedoya Lindo, 11.80, were also impressive in qualifying.
Ferncourt’s star Rihanna Scott was raced to the line by York Castle’s Micka-Lee James as they advanced with 11.83 and 11.96, respectively.
The fastest qualifier tag in Class Three went to Alpha’s Azaria Harris who she took her heat in 11.67.
Brianna Grey of Excelsior was the fastest qualifier in Class Four, crossing the link in 12.27 to take heat five,.
The Vere Technical pair of Brianna King, 12.30, and Omeikia Shepherd, 12.33, were the next two fastest qualifiers as they took heats four and eight, respectively.
Edwin Allen also had their pair of speedsters as Monique Bogle, 12.35, and Shantwae Green, 12.39, advanced to the semifinals.
The sprint titles will be decided tomorrow with the semifinals scheduled for 4 p.m. and the finals scheduled for 7:58 p.m.
