Ascot High teacher shot dead in Spanish Town

A teacher was shot and killed by unknown assailants along March Pen Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Friday afternoon. 

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Roshane Beckford, otherwise called ‘Pancho’, a teacher at Ascot High School in Portmore, St Catherine.

Police reports are that about 3:15 p.m., Beckford received a telephone call indicating that a family member, said to be his mother, was ill and required his assistance.

He reportedly went to an address on March Pen Road, where he was pounced upon by unknown men and shot multiple times.

The police were summoned and Beckford was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators have not established a motive for the killing.

The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the incident.
