Update | Ewarton man charged with murder over fatal March Pen shooting

The Spanish Town police have charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of another man in March Pen, St Catherine on Friday.

Charged with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony is 32-year-old Daniel Carby, a mechanic of Waterloo district in Ewarton, St Catherine.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Richard Robinson, a mechanic of an area known as Backland in March Pen.

Reports from the Spanish Town police are that at about 4:20 a.m. on Friday, July 24, Robinson and Carby got into an altercation during which Carby allegedly brandished a firearm and opened fire, hitting Robinson in the upper body.

The police say Carby fled the scene.

The police were alerted, and Robinson was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, Carby turned himself in to the police.

He was subsequently charged after a question-and-answer interview in the presence of his attorney.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, August 4.
