NWC says recent rains insufficient to ease Corporate Area water restrictions

The National Water Commission (NWC) says that despite recent rains in the Corporate Area, storage levels at the Mona Reservoir and the Hermitage Dam remain low, and as such, restrictions will remain in place.
The NWC said the downpour had temporarily slowed the rate of decline at the storage facilities affected by the extended period of dry conditions.
However, despite these encouraging developments, storage levels remain significantly below those recorded during the corresponding periods in 2024 and 2025, it noted.
The company pointed out that, as at October 11, the storage level at the Mona Reservoir stood at 36.3 per cent, while that at the Hermitage Dam was 44.9 per cent.
The NWC said it recognises the optimism generated by the recent showers and appreciates the public's desire for an easing of the existing supply restrictions.
However, it said the current storage position does not yet support a general return to unrestricted distribution.
Consequently, regulated water supply schedules will remain in effect in the affected service areas as the commission continues to monitor reservoir inflows, storage recovery and production conditions.
“The NWC appreciates the patience and cooperation of customers and encourages continued conservation and adequate household storage, even as the rainy conditions persist.”
The commission said it will continue to assess the situation and make adjustments to distribution arrangements as storage and production conditions permit.
