Tastee Limited are the latest corporate company to throw their support behind Netball Jamaica and the Sunshine Girls, with a $250,000 sponsorship deal for meals for the month of August.

Netball president Marva Bernard, who accepted the 35 lunch vouchers - each entitling the team to 25 meals - said the contribution will go a far way in assisting the girls' nutritional needs. The presentation took place at the Tastee head office in Cross Roads.

To Help with Nutrition

"It has been a long and hard journey, but good things come to those who wait, and we want to thank Tastee for this support," Bernard said.

She added: " It is really pleasing to see corporate Jamaica responding to our needs, and this will go a far way in feeding the girls. Nutrition is very important to us, and this is a great gift."

Jamal Tugman, Tastee's public-relations officer, said that the deal itself was worth more than $250,000, and that the company will make any necessary adjustments as they go along.

"'They can take the vouchers as the meals, whether breakfast or lunch, any time they want during the August period or even further. This partnership is something that we are not limiting to the amount of breakfast or lunches," Tugman said.

"We've given them a solid figure, $250,000, and this will continue after this $250,000 worth of meals has expired," he said.

"This will be an ongoing partnership. We are a proud supporter of sports. We've supported all different sporting associations. And this is just one that we are giving back to. As the years and months progress, Netball Jamaica can expect bigger and better support from Tastee Limited," Tugman said.

Tastee's sponsorship translates to 875 meals being provided for the Sunshine Girls at a unit cost of $285.70. However, a combo breakfast costs $350 or $370 (with ackee), while a combo meal is priced at $420.
