Jamaica’s 2019 World Championships 400m bronze medal winner, Rushell Clayton, has been forced to withdraw from the National Senior Championships because of a problematic leg injury.

Clayton, who pulled up during her last race, the NACAC New Life Invitational in Miramar, Florida on June 5, has been hampered by injury setbacks for much of the season and has struggled to replicate the form that saw her power to a medal spot at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The development was confirmed by a member of her management team, Andi Sports Management.

“Rushell Clayton will not be competing at the National Senior Championships because she has been seriously affected by a recurring injury and based on the medical advice that we have received, the decision was taken to pull her from the meet,” said the representative.

“We are working to get her healthy and back on track before the end of season,” the represent added.
