Mount Pleasant up to second with 3-2 win over Cavalier
Mount Pleasant Football Academy defeated Cavalier 3-2 in their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence on Friday.
Mount Pleasant took the lead after 16 minutes thanks to Jourdaine Fletcher's brilliant curling shot from outside the area.
They were 2-0 up on 32 minutes when Kemar Beckford fired past Jeadine White from just inside the area.
However, Shaneil Thomas pulled a goal back just before the break, when he outjumped the Mount Pleasant defence to nod past Akel Clarke in goal.
Cavalier showed more purpose after the interval but it was Mount Pleasant who restored their two-goal advantage when Daniel Green latched on to a through ball and placed his shot past White in goal.
Cavalier got another goal in added time thanks to Jerome McLeary's close-range effort.
However, it was a little too late for the Rudolph Speid-coached Cavalier.
Mount Pleasant climbed to second in the standings, only on goal difference, with 14 points, the same as leaders Portmore United.
Cavalier are fifth in the standing on 12 points, the same as sixth placed Harbour View.
