Health and Environment Minister Rudyard Spencer said security at the Bellevue hospital in Kingston would be increased following a robbery at the facility on Wednesday night.

Five workers who were on duty on the K complex were reportedly held up and robbed, by a lone gunman of their cellular phones, money and other personal items.

The Health Minister said he hoped the perpetrators would be caught and brought to justice. However, new security measures are to be implemented.

Hospital officials said a buzzer system at the entrance at the K1 and K2 wards will be reinstalled.

Repairs are also to be done to the perimeter fence at the K complex.
