Trial of Constable Rushan Hamilton postponed
The trial of Constable Rushan Hamilton, the policeman charged for the abduction and murder of a fourteen year old girl has been postponed until October 14.
At that time, Presiding Magistrate Marva McIntosh will hand down her ruling on the policeman’s bail application.
Constable Hamilton is being tried in the Home Circuit Court.
His arrest followed the abduction of Jhaneel Goulbourne who was taken from the gate of her house on Mortello Drive in Harbour View, Kingston on October 4 last year.
The girl was reportedly standing at her gate with a friend when a white Toyota bus with three men drove up.
The police had earlier reported that one of the men alighted with a gun in hand and ordered her into the vehicle, then drove away.
When the girl could not be found Constable Hamilton was later charged with murder on instruction from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Last year he was also charged with carnal abuse, indecent assault and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
