NAJ gives prime minister ultimatum

President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, NAJ Edith Allwood-Anderson has given the government until Sunday to present the findings of a report into the reclassification exercise for nurses.

The Prime Minister Bruce Golding had asked the NAJ to give him one week to respond to the issue.

But that was more than two weeks ago.

NAJ President Edith Allwood Anderson who addressed the annual nurses conference this morning says she is not satisfied with the manner in which Mr. Golding is treating the outstanding issue of the nurses’ reclassification.

The Labour Ministry has called a meeting of all health sector groups for next week Thursday to discuss the reclassification exercise for the sector.

It follows concerns raised by the nurses over the delay in implementing the reclassification due since 2007.

But the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions has said the government needs to focus on implementing the exercise for all health groups as opposed to focusing on one group.
