JPS bills stolen
The Jamaica Public Service Company,(JPS) is reporting that gunmen held up and robbed a team of its contractors at gunpoint relieving them of a van containing approximately 2,000 electricity bills.
The incident happened yesterday.
The contractors who were unharmed, were delivering bills in the Barbican, Kingston 6 area.
The JPS says its currently taking urgent steps to replace the bills which were stolen.
As a result the company says customers in this area may experience some delays in receiving their bills, while others may receive their bills twice.
The JPS says some customers may have received a bill prior to the robbery of the van, in addition to the replacement bill.
Customers affected by the incident are in the areas of East Kings House Road, and roads leading off; Barbican Avenue and Drive and the surrounding areas; Oaklawn Drive; Millsborough and Halifax Avenues and roads leading off.
The company says the police are now investigating the matter.
And it’s advising customers in the affected areas to call the JPS Customer Care Centre at 1-888-225-5577 or 1-888-CallJPS to discuss any concerns they may have.
