Custos James deRoux retires
Jamaica’s longest serving custos James deRoux will be retiring at the end of the month.
deRoux who was the custos for the parish of Clarendon will be stepping down after 30 years in the post.
He was appointed on May 5, 1981 and since that time, has served as the representative in Clarendon for four different Governors-General.
Custos deRoux also acted as the deputy governor-general on three occasions.
Custos deRoux will be replaced by businessman and justice of the peace, William ‘Billy’ Shagoury effective August 1.
The Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen has thanked deRoux for his sterling contribution to Jamaica.
The Governor General has also applauded Custos deRoux for his hard work, integrity and commitment to service.
