Outstanding public servant Faith Innerarity is dead

Faith Innerarity died this morning from cancer in a hospice in Florida, United States.



The 54-year-old had been ailing for sometime and traveled to the US a week ago.



A veteran in the public service, Innerarity had served Jamaica for over 30 years and was lauded for her outstanding contribution to public service as well as to international relations.



She served as permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture Youth and Sports and prior to that was chief technical director in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, after serving as senior director social security for 10 years.



A couple years ago, she had taken leave to pursue doctoral studies in gender and development at the Institute for Gender and Development Studies, University of the West Indies.



Her advanced illness had caused her to eventually resign from public service.



A devout Christian, Innerarity was married and had a son.
