The Clarendon Parish Development Committee (PDC) wants the National Security Ministry to consider establishing a new police station in Race Course.

The call follows an announcement by Police Commissioner, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin that he intends to scale down operations at the Exeter Police Station in Clarendon.

The station, which was damaged by Hurricanes Ivan and Dean, is among several under used facilities, the Commissioner wants to either close or scale down to make more police personnel available for street patrols.

A member of the Clarendon PDC, Dr. Horace Charroo, said residents have already identified a possible location for a new station in Race Course.
