Media barred from covering Lyns’ trial
Senior Puisne judge Marva McIntosh this morning barred the media from attending further sittings in the trial of the two men charged with the murder of Manchester couple Richard and Julia Lyn.
The two men on trial are Lennox Swaby and Calvin Powell both of Manchester.
This morning the mother of Swaby’s child told the court that last night angry residents stormed her house after she had given testimony in court earlier.
The woman had told the court that Swaby and Powell took some items to her house, which she believed belonged to the Lyn’s.
She also testified that the men asked her to accompany them to an ATM to assist them in using a bank card.
This morning senior puisne judge Marva McIntosh said the action of the residents may have been the result of reports on the case and asked that further sittings of the trial not be covered by the media.
The Lyns were murdered in December 2006 during a robbery at their home in Mandeville.
The decomposed bodies of the elderly couple were found at the Martins Hill Dump in Manchester.
